Dental Crowns (Caps)
Dental crowns (caps) are an important part of restorative dentistry, and their versatile nature allows them to correct many common dental problems, such as injuries, decay, weakened tooth structure, cosmetic imperfections, and more. They’re designed to cover the existing shape of a single tooth, repairing its appearance and durability while also protecting it from further harm.
Also called crown and bridgework, a dental bridge replaces one or more missing teeth in a row. It is also a fixed prosthetic, meaning that you cannot remove it. The replacement teeth are attached to one another to form the bridge. On the ends of the bridge are crowns that fit upon healthy teeth adjacent to where the bridge will reside. Dr. Valentine may recommend securing your bridge to dental implants for added benefits.
One-Visit CEREC® Crowns
Dr. Valentine can offer a one-visit CEREC® crown. With CEREC® crowns, we can design, mill, and place your restoration in one appointment. This is possible because of 3-D imaging and computerized, onsite milling. While you relax and watch a movie or listen to music, we’ll fabricate your all-porcelain, custom crown in our office. Dr. Valentine will permanently bond the crown in place the same day, and you’ll leave the office with a restoration immediately and a beautiful smile.
Replace Missing Teeth with Dental Bridges and Dentures
Dr. Valentine only works with high-quality dental labs to offer bridges and dentures that replicate the appearance of natural, attractive teeth. A custom prosthesis will improve your oral function and appearance, as well as your quality of life. Patients who have lost all their teeth will need a full set of dentures for the top, bottom, or both arches. Anchor dentures with dental implants for increased comfort and fit. If you have healthy teeth but need a few teeth replaced, Dr. Valentine can fit you with a dental bridge or partial denture. We customize treatment to meet your needs!
Root canal therapy may be thought of as an intimidating procedure by many patients but is, in fact, a highly valuable restorative procedure. A Root Canal can rescue and restore badly infected teeth that would have otherwise been lost to extraction.
Your natural teeth are composed of several different tissues, leading down to a vulnerable inner pulp (nerve). When this pulp (nerve) becomes exposed to harmful bacteria, root canal therapy allows Dr. Valentine to access this area and thoroughly clean it. After removing the diseased pulp and replacing it with a 100% safe, biocompatible substance, the treated tooth is sealed and covered with a custom-made restoration so that it both looks and feels as good as new. In fact, root canal therapy enjoys a success rate of over 95%, and many of these teeth go on to serve patients well for the rest of their lives.
Tooth extractions are never an ideal outcome - Dr. Valentine will do everything to help you avoid extractions through preventive and restorative care. However, if you fall victim to a traumatic dental injury or advanced tooth decay and removing one or more teeth is best for you, Dr. Valentine is here to assist you. Patients can trust our team to help them remain comfortable and at ease throughout the procedure. We offer Nitrous Oxide – full Sedation is also available – if needed. Dr. Valentine will help you select the right tooth replacement option as required.
Wisdom Tooth Extractions
Your wisdom teeth (also known as “third molars”) tend to make their appearance when a person is somewhere between the ages of 16-22. Unfortunately, they are likely to cause problems for your smile. Because of a lack of available space left in the mouth, these teeth often become trapped in the jawbone and/or dangerously overcrowd. If your child is near this age, it’s a good idea to bring them in for an appointment with Dr. Valentine to assess the development and determine if wisdom tooth extraction is needed.
