Dental Implants: The Modern Approach to Replacing Teeth
Dental implants are a popular option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, tooth decay, an injury, or some other reason. A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or bridge. Dental implants are an easy, durable, and often the most economical option for many patients with one or more missing teeth.
Constructed from biocompatible titanium or Zirconia dental implants are small posts that Dr. Valentine will surgically position into your jawbone. Each post anchors one prosthetic crown - a few implants can hold a denture, partial, or bridge in place. Your bone will naturally grow to integrate with each implant post to create an artificial tooth root.
Dental Implants will rejuvenate your smile and oral health! Patients can once again smile with self-assurance and eat the foods they love to enjoy.
Benefits of Dental Implants
- No adhesives or clasps required
- Can last a lifetime
- Provide a secure prosthetic anchor
- Require no special care
- Stimulate and preserve jawbone tissue
- Look and feel natural
The surgical placement of your new dental implant(s) is an important process and one that should be handled by a true, experienced professional. While many general dentists should refer their patients to outside specialists, Dr. Valentine is proud to offer this essential service right here in her Beverly Hills office!
After the implants have been successfully inserted into the patient’s jawbone, a vital process known as osseointegration begins. Your natural tissue and bone will gradually grow around the biocompatible implants and form a strong bond with them, setting the stage for custom-made restorations to be situated on top. Several options are available for restoration, including implant-supported crowns, bridges, and dentures. Dr. Valentine will be happy to help you determine which one is best for your unique needs.
Implant Supported Dentures
As a more secure and comfortable alternative for denture stabilization, Dr. Valentine often recommends implant-retained dentures. A few dental implants secured in the jawbone can hold a denture in place, and you won’t have to worry about slippage or looseness. No more denture creams, natural suction, or special care routines. Implant-retained dentures are easy to care for, and you’ll love their natural feel and function. Furthermore, because dental implant posts stimulate jawbone tissue, your jaw is less likely to degenerate.
Mini Dental Implants
While most patients can be good candidates for dental implants, some may not have enough adequate, jawbone structure left to accommodate them. If this case, mini dental implants can be an excellent and reliable alternative. Like the name suggests, mini dental implants are a smaller, more compact version of the traditional version, which allows them to be successfully anchored into much thinner areas of bone. They can support dental prosthetics just like regular implants, and they’re capable of serving your smile well for many years with proper maintenance.
Same Day Dental Implants
Traditionally, having dental implants placed and restored is a months-long process – one in which patients had to go about their daily lives without a full set of functional teeth in the interim. Here in Beverly Hills, Dr. Valentine would prefer to be able to rebuild your strong, attractive teeth right away, and that’s why she now offers state-of-the-art options like Ultratooth®. Ultratooth® same day dental implants provide excellent stability and can be fitted for prosthetics right away – no waiting required.
Understanding the Cost of Dental Implants
Unsurprisingly, dental implants typically come with a higher price tag than other tooth replacement options like bridges and dentures. However, rest assured that this treatment is worth every penny. Because of their longevity, you shouldn’t have to pay to replace your implant every few years like you would with other options. While there is no fixed cost of dental implants, we’ll go over all the factors affecting your cost during your consultation and come up with a solution to restore your smile without breaking the bank.

How do dental implants protect my oral health?
The oral health benefits of choosing dental implants for your tooth replacement is two-fold. For one, you’re preventing neighboring teeth from shifting out of place, causing your overall bite alignment to become uneven. By keeping your bite even, you reduce your risk of teeth grinding, which can damage your tooth enamel. Additionally, dental implants are designed to keep bone stimulated, which effectively reduces the risk of remaining teeth falling out as a result of bone loss. Keeping your natural teeth is our office’s highest priority, and dental implants offer the best long-term solutions for keeping remaining teeth healthy and restoring your overall oral health.
Are dental implants safe?
Dental implants are considered to be 100 percent safe when they are placed by a professional. While technically any dentist can say that they are able to place dental implants, that doesn’t mean they are necessarily qualified to do so. Dr. Valentine is not only happy to place and restore dental implants in her office, but she is more than qualified to complete every step of the procedure. She also makes sure to provide multiple implant options based on your concerns as well as what she believes will ensure the best treatment outcome possible. Furthermore, implants have an average success rate as high as 98 percent, so you can relax knowing that your tooth replacement is in good hands.
How do I make my dental implants last?
Dental implants do not require any special care to maintain. While the restoration that sits on top of your implant(s) is made from inorganic material (and therefore cannot develop tooth decay like enamel can), that does not mean you can skip your brushing and flossing routine. You will still need to brush twice a day with a fluoridated toothpaste for at least two minutes at a time, making sure to focus on the area beneath the implant restoration in particular. You should also floss daily and visit our office once every six months for an exam and cleaning.
Do dental implants look natural next to real teeth?
We make sure to use porcelain materials when creating your dental implant-retained restorations, whether you’re using a crown, bridge or denture! We also color-match your restorations so they blend in exactly with any existing teeth. This ensures that only you and Dr. Valentine know where your tooth replacements are, rather than your friends and family.
